Amble connects nonprofits and nature conservancies with top-notch creative talent to provide carefully managed, impactful creative projects.

In exchange for their services, creatives have the opportunity to take time away with purpose by embarking on one-month destination sabbaticals in beautiful places across the USA.

Who we’ve worked with

The impact that Amble had on our organization far exceeded our expectations. Glacier Conservancy not only received tangible, beautiful and free work from creative professionals but also gained some incredible relationships that will benefit Glacier now and in the future in so many special ways.

How It Works

Leverage existing assets.

Community Hosts, our nonprofit and conservancy partners in each destination, receive creative work at no cost by providing Amble with:

  • Unique Programming
Example activities: behind-the-scenes tours, guided hikes, exclusive access.

  • Lodging & Workspace
Provided in and/or around in the communities you support and landscapes you protect.

Lodging

Lodging for the program can come in all different shapes and sizes—from private homes, to rustic cabins. The lodging provided by your organization should provide a safe, clean, and comfortable environment that’s suitable for one-month stay.

A workspace must also be available for our creatives, whether located within the accommodations, or in offices or buildings managed by your organization.

Don’t have LODGING?

If you would like to participate in the program but don’t own or have access to lodging, we can help your team identify alternative opportunities.

We’d love to hear from you, so please reach out!

Receive creative support.

We work with your team to define small but impactful creative projects that can be completed by our creative professionals during their month away.

Projects are identified either by the Community Host or done so in collaboration with ours. We ask our creatives to dedicate up to 1/3 of their time on project work (approx. 2.5 days or 18 hours). With this in mind, projects are appropriately identified and scoped by the Amble team in collaboration with the Community Host.

Creatives are encouraged to use the remaining time however they wish to ensure they have ample time to reflect, recharge and explore on their sabbatical.

Amble is a great opportunity to receive professional creative services that you might not otherwise afford. It was great to be able to dedicate a concentrated and defined period of time to the projects. The cohorts were self motivated and work horses.

The artwork that was created for Yosemite Conservancy is genuine, professional, and born from time spent under stars, beneath granite cliffs, and in Giant Sequoia groves. We cannot wait to use this art on products in our stores and share it with Yosemite visitors.

What we offer

Operational Improvement

  • Creative practices help organizations in many ways, often beyond the deliverables of a project.

  • Design Thinking can help cultivate high-performing teams, improve processes and workflows, design for accessibility and inclusion, and better understand your audiences so you can move them to action more easily.

Access to Creative Talent

  • Leading creative professionals often live in large urban areas, limiting access to talent for under-resourced nonprofits and organizations in small, rural regions.

  • Amble helps our Community Hosts build a network of world-class creative talent, and relationships that grow strong over time, simply by participating in the program.

Impactful Creative Work

  • Whatever your creative needs are, Amble helps pair you with top talent to fulfill them.

  • Our participants bring years of experience working at creative agencies, design firms, tech companies, and world-class organizations, and apply themselves to one goal: increasing the impact of your organization.

  • When expertise meets passion, our creatives unlock an intrinsic drive to deliver their best work.

Internal Capacity Building

  • Improve the impact and effectiveness of your organization by building internal capacity through new skills and capabilities.

  • Achieve deeper understanding of creative practices to increase impact where it matters most: within your community.

  • When your staff collaborates with creative professionals, they unlock new ways of thinking about—and solving—existing challenges.

The deliverables exceeded our expectations. And it was wonderful to have the extended opportunity to see our park and our work through the eyes of visiting creative professionals. In addition to the tangible benefits, we also got a boost of energy and enthusiasm for what we do.
— julie, glacier conservancy
I was very impressed with the caliber of the content developed by the professionals. I was particularly impressed with how deeply they engaged with our organizations goals and systems and how astute their observations and recommendations were. The insight and guidance provided by the Amble cohort will be directly implementable for our organization and will help us do a better job of reaching the audiences we want to reach, doing so with a professional aesthetic.

Working with Amble was a tremendous opportunity and great pleasure for all of us the Mariposa County Arts Council. The creative professionals with whom we were paired took great care to understand the work we do and the community we serve before developing amazing branding assets and UX strategies that beautifully elevated our visibility, increased our outreach efficiency, and built in us the capacity to expand the work started during our time with them.

We are deeply grateful to Amble for appreciating the work being done on the ground by small non profits and connecting us to necessary services and amazing creative professionals who are often beyond our reach.
